The 2015 "It's a Breast Thing" Event

This year, 2015, has been a big turning point for It’s a Breast Thing Non Profit with a total of 23 grants awarded to local breast cancer patients for their out of pocket expenses while they are in treatment. A board of directors was appointed and will begin the year 2016 educating the counties we service, Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee, about what It’s a Breast Thing does and ways that they can help to make a difference.

Our 8th annual It’s a Breast Thing Event was held on Tuesday October 6th and was once again a wonderful evening at Eagle Eye Golf Club! With the support of our very generous sponsors, bra decorators, exhibitors, volunteers and those who graciously donated their time it was a huge success! We are so appreciative to all those that took part in this wonderful evening, including our 550 guests, for helping to make it possible for us to continue supporting our community breast cancer patients.

There were several fun and very profitable changes this year beginning with our bra decorators selling tickets prior to the event to vote for their bra. This yielded an additional $10,000 to be used to award grants. The ice cream float table was a fun addition which appeared to be a big hit!

Our 14 terrific exhibitors had much wonderful information to share with the guest and the 2016 It’s a Breast Thing Calendars were being pre-ordered through out the evening. The calendar features the top 12 voted bras from the evening with local breast cancer survivors as models! The photo shoot for the calendar was held October 18 and was a fabulous day for all our models.

A video ran throughout much of the evening with photos of previous events and photo shoots which was a new part of the evening and fun for our guests to see. The evening program hosted by Dr. La Keeya Tucker was titled: What’s the latest in Breast Imaging? Are Yours too Dense? It was a huge success with lots of up to date information given by several local experts.

We look forward to another successful year for It’s a Breast Thing with the opportunity to award many more grants to our local breast cancer patients and seeing everyone on Tuesday October 4th for the 9th annual event!
